Campus-Wide Student Assistance - Priorities

  The Queen's Student Financial Assistance Fund   Add to Gift Basket  
This fund will recognize and support the demonstrated achievement and outstanding potential of Queen's students. It will equip Queen's with a means to respond with agility to the changing needs and expectations of Queen's students today and in perpetuity.

Established by John Matheson in memory of The Reverend Dr. Alexander Dawson Matheson, BD, MA (Queen's), DD (McGill) and awarded to an undergraduate student in any faculty or school on the basis of financial need.

  The A E MacRae Awards   Add to Gift Basket  
A general bursary and an award in creative leadership, founded by the late A.E. MacRae.

  The A V Douglas Bursaries   Add to Gift Basket  
Established in honour of A. Vibert Douglas, LLD, Dean of Women from 1939 to 1959 and a pioneer in the teaching of astrophysics. Awarded on the basis of need to students in any faculty or school, with preference given to women students.

  The Aboriginal Admission Award   Add to Gift Basket  
Established by Chancellor David Dodge, B.A (Hons.) 1965, LL.D. 2002, and Christiane Dodge, B.A. 1964. Awarded to Aboriginal students entering first year of any undergraduate degree program.

  The Adelaide Haggart Bursaries   Add to Gift Basket  
Established from a bequest by Adelaide E. (Haggart) Robinson and awarded to a student in any faculty or school on the basis of financial need.

  The Agnes Benidickson Bursary   Add to Gift Basket  
Established by the AMS in honour of the Chancellor Emeritus, Agnes Benidickson. Funds have been donated by students through their Student Activity Fees and raised through Project Millennium. Awarded to an undergraduate student in financial need.

  The Alfie Pierce Entrance Scholarship   Add to Gift Basket  
Established by the Afro-Caribe Community Foundation of Kingston and District. Awarded to students in any undergraduate program on the basis of academic achievement and contribution to the African or Caribbean communities in Canada.

  The Alfred Bader Fellowship in Memory of Jean Royce   Add to Gift Basket  
Established by Alfred Bader and other friends in memory of Jean Royce. Awarded to a woman graduate of Queen's for study/research which contributes to the advancement of knowledge, contributes to society, or allows creative expression.

  The Alfred Bader International Study Award   Add to Gift Basket  
Established by Alfred Bader and awarded on the basis of academic merit and financial need to students for study at the Bader International Study Centre.

  The Alison & I G Morgan Bursary   Add to Gift Basket  
Established to Alison and I.G. Morgan and awarded on the basis of financial need to a student in any year of any program.

  The Alumni National Scholarship   Add to Gift Basket  
Established through donations of Queen's Alumni to create a scholarship at Queen's.

  The AMS Accessibility Queen's Bursary   Add to Gift Basket  
Awarded on the basis of need to students with disabilities who are registered with Disability Services, and who are not eligible for funding through the OSAP Bursary for Students with Disabilities. Funds to help with the costs of adaptive technology etc.

  The AMS Bursary for the Disabled   Add to Gift Basket  
Through contributions from student activity fees from 1989-1993, the accessibility task force established bursaries for undergraduate students with disabilities. Recipients must be registered with Health, Counselling and Disabilty Services.

  The AMS Native Student Awards   Add to Gift Basket  
Established in 1990 by the Alma Mater Society of Queen's University and awarded annually to native students entering first year in any faculty or school with preference given to undergraduate students. Selection is based on academic standing and/or need.

  The Anna Jean and Ross Baker Award   Add to Gift Basket  
Established initially from a bequest by Edward Ross Baker in memory of his mother, Anna Jean Baker, and a subsequent gift by Gordon Baker in memory of his brother and mother. Awarded on the basis of financial need and satisfactory academic standing.

Established in memory of Effie Barbara Paul (Paithouski), BA'74 (Carleton) by her son, N. Joseph Paithouski, BA'79, BSc(Eng.)'80, and awarded to a student 25 years of age or older striving to complete their degree. Preference to a woman student.

Awarded to students entering the first year of any program based on a combination of: need, superior academic ability, leadership, and school and/or community involvement. Renewable for three years if 80% standing maintained and need remains evident.

  The Barbara & Archibald Malloch Fund   Add to Gift Basket  
Established by Barbara Monture Malloch, Arts'47, to provide funding for the Queen's Project on International Development (QPID).

  The Beatrice (Steuer) Cohen Award   Add to Gift Basket  
Established by Beatrice Cohen. Awarded on the basis of financial need and academic achievement to students in any Faculty or School who are challenged with a physical disability.

  The Board of Trustees Bursary   Add to Gift Basket  
Established through donations by the Board of Trustees of Queen's University and awarded on the basis of financial need to a student in any faculty or school at Queen's University.

  The Brian Yealland Bursary for International Students   Add to Gift Basket  
Established in honour of Brian Yealland, MDiv'72, for his dedication to students as University Chaplain. Awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need to an international student in any undergraduate year of any Faculty or School at Queen's.

  The Bruce H Mitchell International Exchange Awards   Add to Gift Basket  
Established by Bruce H. Mitchell, BSc'68. Awarded on the basis of academic achievement and financial need to full-time undergraduates from any program, doing a Queen's exchange. Preference to students studying outside of North America.

Established by the Calgary Branch of the Queen's University Alumni Association. Awarded to students from the Calgary area entering first year of any program,on the basis of financial need, academic excellence, community involvement, and employment.

Established by Local 1302 of C.U.P.E. and awarded to an undergraduate student(s) in any program of studies at Queen's University on the basis of demonstrated financial need.

Established by an anonymous donor and awarded to full and part-time undergraduate and graduate mature women students studying at Queen's University based on financial need for direct academic expenses or unbudgeted expenses and emergencies.

Established by a bequest from the estate of John Deakin Buckley Walton, Arts'45, and awarded to a student who distinguishes themself in the study of biblical Greek. Pref. given to a student who completes two semesters of Greek during the academic year.

Awarded on the basis of academic merit alternating years to a student entering the final year of the Mechanical Engineering program in Applied Science, or to a student entering the final year of the Commerce program in the School of Business.

Established by Karen V. Gunn, B.Ed. 1983, and awarded on the basis of financial need to second-, third-, or fourth-year students in any program at Queen's University.

  The Ken Dryden/Edward Fletcher Award   Add to Gift Basket  
Awarded to a student entering first year in any faculty or school who has had significant experience in the Child Welfare System in Ontario and who demonstrates need. The award is renewable for the following three years.

Established by Donald Carty, BA'68. Awarded to full-time students entering any undergraduate program at Queen's. Awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need, superior academic ability, and leadership qualities.

  The Killam American Scholarship   Add to Gift Basket  
Established in memory of Izaac Walton Killam by his sisters. Awarded on the basis of academic excellence to students who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States entering first year of any first entry undergraduate degree program.

  The Kingston Branch of the Queen's Alumni Association Entrance Award   Add to Gift Basket  
Established by the Kingston Branch of the Queen's Alumni Association and awarded to an undergraduate student entering the first year at Queen's. Based on need, academics, and community involvement.

  The Kingston Community Award   Add to Gift Basket  
Awarded on the basis of financial need and academic achievement to students entering first year of any degree program, who are graduates of a secondary school in one of the counties: Lennox and Addington, Frontenac, Leeds and Grenville, or Prince Edward.

  The Kingston Frontenac County Bursary   Add to Gift Basket  
Bursaries offered to graduates of secondary schools in Frontenac County, who are children or wards of Frontenac County residents.

  The Lesley Family Entrance Award   Add to Gift Basket  
Established by a bequest from the estate of Anne Lesley, BA'71, and awarded on the basis of financial need to students entering first year of any direct-entry undergraduate program at Queen's University.

  The Lin Good Bursary Fund   Add to Gift Basket  
Established in honour of Lin Good on the occassion of her retirement. Lin served as a librarian from 1959 to 1986 in a number of positions. Awarded to students in any faculty or school who need financial assistance.

  The Lincoln Might Scholarship   Add to Gift Basket  
Established in 1951 by Lincoln Might and awarded on the basis of academic excellence to students entering first year of any direct entry undergraduate Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree program.

  The Major C "Mike" Wiltshire Memorial Bursary   Add to Gift Basket  
Established by Gertrude Goodall, BA'41, in memory of her husband, C. Mike Wiltshire, BA'63. Awarded on the basis of financial need to an undergraduate student in any Faculty or School.

  The Maria A Higginson Bursary   Add to Gift Basket  
Established by Blair Higginson in memory of Maria A. Higginson. Awarded to students in financial need in any undergraduate program, who is from Hawkesbury, Vankleek Hill or Renfrew High Schools.

Awarded to a student from one of the secondary schools in Renfrew, Hawkesbury or Vankleek Hill.

  The Marsha Lampman Alumni Association Bursaries   Add to Gift Basket  
Established by a bequest from Marsha Lampman, BA(Hon)'74, and donations from alumni volunteers. Awarded to an undergraduate student entering first year in any faculty or school on the basis of financial need and extracurricular activities.

Established by Martha J. Crane, BA(Hon) 1976, BEd 1977, and awarded on the basis of financial need to an undergraduate student in any faculty or school.

  The Martin Bursary   Add to Gift Basket  
Established in May 2001 by Gladys Martin and Joan Martin Sargeant in memory of their father, Thomas Martin, to reflect his support and a life-long interest in the education of women. Awarded on the basis of financial need to a woman student.

Established in memory of Aletta Marty, MA 1894, LLD 1919, and her sister, Sophie Marty. Awarded by the Queen's University Alumnae Association to a woman graduate of Queen's University for one year of study and research.

Established by Brenda and David McLean and awarded on the basis of need and involvement in school or community activities to students graduating from a high school in British Columbia or Alberta entering first year of any direct entry undergrad program.

Established by a bequest from the estate of Harry McQueen, B.A. 1925, and awarded on the basis of financial need.

  The Melvin R Goodes Entrance Award   Add to Gift Basket  
Established in honour of Melvin R. Goodes, Comm'57, LLD'94. Awarded on the basis of need, academic excellence, and leadership to full-time students from Hamilton, Ontario, who are entering the first year of any undergraduate program.

  The Michael and Susan Woeller Entrance Award   Add to Gift Basket  
Established by Michael Woeller, MBA 1978, and Susan Woeller (Butler) B.A. (Hons.) 1973, B.Ed. 1975. Awarded on the basis of financial need and demonstrated leadership experience to students entering the first year of any undergraduate program.

Established from the Estate of Nancy Davies, Arts'43. Awarded to women students in any undergraduate or graduate program who have been out of formal study for three or more years prior to their return to Queen's based on need and for emergencies.

Established by Arthur W. McLeod Rogers and awarded at the close of each academic year to the student who has shown the most outstanding leadership in student affairs during such academic year.
