Founded in 2010, The Canadian Institute for Military and Veteran Health Research (CIMVHR) is an innovative organization that engages existing academic research resources and facilitates the development of new research, research capacity and effective knowledge translation. With a network of over 1500 academic researchers from across Canada and around the world, it serves as a focal point for its members who have agreed to work together in addressing the health research requirements of the Canadian military, Veterans and their families. The institute serves all Canadian stakeholders interested in military, Veteran and family health research and acts as a conduit between the academic community, government organizations, industry and similar international organizations.
Since its inception, CIMVHR has been building a network of researchers from coast-to-coast who are subject matter experts on areas of military, Veteran and family health, including mental health; physical health; health policy; and health services. CIMVHR has grown to become the leading Canadian research institute for this population. As the institute continues to grow, research capacity is increased.
