The Romans Memorial Fund

Donate to The Romans Memorial Fund

The Romans Memorial Fund was established in memory of a Meds ‘73 graduate to support the student-initiated Surgical Skills and Technology Elective Program (SSTEP) in the School of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences. SSTEP provides medical students with an opportunity to develop foundational surgical skills, and through practice in a simulation lab, rapidly advance those skills. The broad curriculum includes fundamental aspects of obstetrics/gynecology, orthopedics, urology and general surgery. Students are taught and mentored in their practice by faculty, surgeons, and residents [physicians] in training.

The Fund’s objective is to benefit as many students in SSTEP as possible in a given year and to assist with program costs in order for students to continue to participate for a nominal fee. If, in the future, SSTEP ceases to exist, the Fund will be used to support a School of Medicine faculty- or medical student-initiated program that is substantially similar.
