Health Sciences Outreach and Summer Program

Donate to Health Sciences Outreach and Summer Program

The Health Sciences Summer and Outreach Program is an initiative started with the aim to support bright and dedicated equity-deserving students, between grades 9-11, from marginalized communities, including individuals who self-identify as Indigenous, Black, racialized, 2SLGBTQIA+, immigrants, refugees, low economic status, first generation, students living with disabilities, amongst others.

In the program, participants will be matched (based on cultural, social, and academic needs) with a mentor who is a Queen's student, faculty, staff, or alumni from Queen's Health Sciences with the aim of providing an impactful experience. The program will include one-on-one mentorship, as well as, educational health science workshops and interactive activities, building participants' confidence to navigate through the process of preparing for and applying to post-secondary programs.

In the long term, this project fosters the vision to build resilience amongst students of underrepresented populations and encourage diversity within the field of healthcare.
