Sc'79s 45th Reunion Oct. 18 -20, 2024

It is hard to believe our 45th reunion is just over a year away. We want to rally support for our class fund as we approach this milestone. At our last reunion, we raised substantial funding to help support purchasing equipment for the Mechatronics and Robotics Laboratory space in Mitchell Hall. This year, we will focus on our original class fundraising initiative, the Science 1979 Forever Fund. As a reminder, the Science 1979 Forever Fund is dedicated to two critical objectives:

1. Empowering Future Engineers: Half of the annual investment income generated by the fund is designated to provide modest grants to undergraduate students. These grants enable them to participate in competitions, conferences, projects, or other activities that enrich their educational experience.

2. Enhancing the Smith Engineering Society: The remaining 50% of the annual investment income supports the activities of the Smith Engineering Society. This allocation covers expenses such as equipment for design teams, operational costs, and supplies.

The Science 1979 Forever Fund plays a pivotal role in supporting the educational journey of Smith Engineering students. It has supported several engineering design teams, including the Queen's Rocket Engineering Team, Queen's Supermileage Team, Queen's Robomaster Design Team, and Queen's Concrete Canoe Team. Many teams could not grow their operations or participate in competitions without this funding.
