One of the many devastating outcomes of war is the prolonged pause or discontinuation in education for students who otherwise have bright futures. These disruptions can have consequences not just on immediate livelihood but also in a lasting, trickle-down manner felt long into the future.

With your help, we aim to fund two graduate students affected by global conflict to join the next Smith MMA or MMAI program starting as early as August 2022.

Our goal is to fund two eligible international applicants whose home countries have been devastated by wars and other disasters. With your help, Smith will match dollar-for-dollar donations received to raise $200,000 to cover tuition, living, and relocation expenses. All gifts received are eligible for a charitable tax receipt from Queen's University.

We have presented this idea to our current students and they are behind our effort to make this a reality for displaced students.

“Our class is fully supportive of this initiative and providing this opportunity within our programs. It would have a profound impact on displaced students and help welcome diverse talent and technology perspectives from other parts of the world. We hope you will join us to help make this opportunity a reality for deserving candidates to join our Smith analytics and AI community.”
