Class Gift: With law school tuition now exceeding $18,000 per year, financial aid is more important than ever.
With this in mind, we are delighted to announce the creation of the Law 1985 Renewable Admission Bursary. This new expendable fund was established to provide more immediate assistance to students during this particularly challenging period of global pandemic and the rising costs of education. Starting now, we are embarking on a fundraising campaign to raise funds with a minimum financial goal of $60,000 by 2022 (or sooner!). With reduced government funding and the rising cost of tuition and living expenses, ensuring that a quality legal education is available to promising students regardless of their financial background, is increasingly important. Currently, over 30 per cent of Queen’s law students receive need-based, merit-based financial aid, and bursaries. It is no surprise that awards and bursaries have been identified by the law school as a top priority for alumni support. Today, tuition for a domestic student at Queen’s Law is over $18,000 per year (plus fees and other expenses).
The Law 1985 Renewable Admission Bursary is the first of its kind, providing $30,000 per student at $10,000 per year for each of the three years of their legal education. Simply put, we are aiming to help change the lives of students and the trajectory of their future careers. Please join us in giving thanks for our own good fortune for attending Queen’s Law. By focusing our efforts on achieving a high rate of class participation, we can provide students with what we received -- access to a Queen’s Law education, memorable experiences, friendships, community. Every gift counts!
Donations of all sizes are welcome. Together we can change the lives of deserving students. If you would like to discuss the class campaign, please contact any one of us.
