Connections Engineering Outreach (CEO) of the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Queen’s University (FEAS-QU) is an engineering education outreach organization intended to provide experiential learning opportunities for youth and professional development opportunities for educators. In 2017, FEAS-QU invested in the expansions of CEO’s outreach programming by customizing a 24-foot trailer into a mobile Makerspace classroom (a physical space that provides access to fabrication tools, technologies, and resources) called the Tech ‘N’ Tinker (TNT) Trailer. The TNT Trailer is designed to physically travel to schools and deliver makerspace outreach workshops while increasing the awareness of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields to students, schools, educators, and community groups who traditionally face accessibility barriers towards STEM.
